Written Schemes
of Examination (WoSE) & Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR)
FACTS
You must have a written scheme of examination before you
can legally operate
any pressure system.
Most businesses believe that having a written scheme establishes
compliance with the regulations.
A written scheme of examination gives compliance with regulation 8 only,
and there are 18 regulations in total, which require compliance.
Mandate Systems was formed to help not hinder the compliance process
for your business.
About the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR)
Having a W.S.o.E dose not mean you are totally compliant with the pressure systems safety regulations. The approved code of practice gives practical advice on how to comply with the law. If you follow the advice you will
be doing enough to comply with the law. However, the code has a
special legal status. If you are prosecuted for a breach of health & safety
law. and it is proved that you did not follow the relevant provisions
of the code, you will will need to show that you complied with
the law in some other way or the court will find you at fault.
The European directive on pressure equipment, Pressure Equipment Directive” (PED)
and the United Kingdom regulation for compliance Pressure Equipment Regulations
(PER) came into force May 2002, and require businesses to comply to standards.
All our Pressure Systems Safety manuals are produced to comply
with “The Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000” using
the regulations, HSE (Health and Safety Executive) approved codes
of practice and guidance from other sources.
